Christie’s Carousel of Learning, previously known as St. Mary’s Merry-go-Round of Learning, was established in 1981. We spent 25 years at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church before moving to our current location at the Park Ridge Presbyterian Church in 2006.

Our parents, Georgia & Gene Christie, started the school along with us and our brothers and sisters with the idea of providing a loving, caring, and enjoyable environment for both children and parents.

In 1960, the Christie family moved to Park Ridge for their excellent school system. Education was important to them as parents as well as keeping the family involved with their faith at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. From Field School to Emerson then to Maine South, all of their children followed these steppingstones of education, continued to college, and each received degrees in their desired fields.

As their daughters, it’s not surprising that education was our field of interest, especially since we helped our mother teach Sunday school for many years. When the preschool director at St. Mary’s planned to retire, our dream of starting our own school became a reality. After months of remodeling, learning the rules and regulations, and receiving our license, the school officially opened in September of 1981.

We are so proud of how successful we have been in providing a strong preschool experience to thousands of children in the community. We would love your family to be a part of our Christie Family!
